I have been teaching, creating and promoting art for over 35 years, in Ontario and overseas, in formal school settings, or in my own studio. I have taken part in several art shows, showcasing my students’ work, or my own.
Now retired, what was once a weekend indulgence is now becoming a more full-time focus in my life, with the added luxury of living in a community of highly accomplished artists.
Currently I am located outside of Owen Sound, Ontario. I do small workshops in oil painting, pastel painting and clay sculpture. I would also invite you to have a look at my recent commissions.
My paintings normally focus on local landscape, with the intention of looking at our timeless natural world, showing few traces of human impact. My sculptures do reflect images of medieval gargoyles but with a less rebuking and judgmental theme. “Grotesque” is the current term for this art form. I’m enjoying creating our modern character in the form of animal, bird and mythical shapes.
My paintings and sculptural pieces can currently be seen in the Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts in Collingwood, in the Owen Sound Artists’ Co-op Ontario, and in various annual juried art shows throughout southern Ontario. Please have a look at my “journal” page to follow my venues and activities.
